A week at Sedge

What every schedule shares

  • One room, two years

Three- and four-year-olds share the room, so a child sees what is coming and then shows it to someone else.

  • A long work cycle

The morning is built around a stretch of uninterrupted work, chosen by the child from the shelf.

  • Time outdoors

The children go out every day, in the yard in good weather and on a walk when it is cold enough for snow pants.

  • Lunch together

On the school day, children eat the lunch they bring at a table set by two of them.

  • A quiet hour

After lunch the room slows down: books, puzzles, a rest for those who want one.

  • The extended afternoon

Children who stay until 5:30 have snack, the yard and quiet work with Kallie.
