Family policies
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home until they feel well again. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and a guide stays with them until someone arrives. Tell us what the illness is when your child is out, so we can let other families know when something is going around.
Drop-off and pickup
Children leave only with the adults on the list you gave us. We ask to see ID from anyone we don't know, and we call you before a child goes with someone new. If a different adult is coming, tell a guide at drop-off.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Late pickup
If you will be late, call or text the school. A guide stays with your child until you arrive. What happens if it repeats is explained when you enroll.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Children bring a lunch and a water bottle, and we serve a snack in the morning. We ask families not to send nuts. If your child has an allergy, tell us on the tour; we ask for the details privately once you enroll.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for school holidays, the winter break and a few in-service days, and we tell you which ones in the fall. When snow closes the roads, we text families before 7 a.m.
What to wear and bring
Clothes that can get wet and muddy, indoor shoes for the room, boots in spring, and a hat, mittens, snow pants and a warm coat in winter. Please send a change of clothes in the backpack and put your child's initials on everything.
Screens and phones
Children don't use screens at school. We ask adults to keep phones put away during the morning.
